My Odyssey Story,

Many creators have been with this amazing online social platform for a very long time. I on the other hand haven't been here as long, I started with Odyssey this year around the month of May, as a content creator (an article writer). Honestly when this platform was introduced to me, I was just going to blow it off and be like, proclaiming: "I am not a writer, I don't like feeling that I am being forced to write just because of a deadline and I don't even have good enough ideas or right well enough for anyone to want to read anything I put online."

I thought why not, take the chance and just submit an application and see what happens. So, emailed my first "article" with some answers to personal questions and blah blah blah. Few days later, I received a response from the now former EIC (Editor in Command) Laura Thompson; a very sweet and super nice lady that interviewed me and gave me the chance of becoming a writer. Honestly had no idea what to write about after that first article and had no idea that I would still be continuing what I do.

A month or so later, Laura offered me and Ashley Bigard the opportunity to become Contributing Editors, editing other creators articles. Both of us gladly accepted!

Some time passed and Laura made the very hard decision to pass the torch on to Ashley, let me tell you that had to be one of the most difficult decisions she had to do, because I know when the time comes for me to have to step down, it is going to be hard.

The new EIC, Ashley worked and built the team and was a great leader; Sabryna Davis and I were the CE's, that edited the articles. After school started circumstances brought her as well to the decision to leave the position too. Now, I as the new EIC and Sabryna as the remaining CE, we set out to continue to grow Wingate's Odyssey. With the wonderful help of Amanda Arevalo, our Assistant Managing Producer in New York, we expanded the executive board; added Sabryna as our Community Health Manager (all social interactions among the group), Sam Hiller as the new CE and Montana Wolfe as Managing Producer (video content manager). With the help of these wonderful ladies. Wingate's Odyssey has flourished.

Now, the whole point of this article is to thank the Wingate Odyssey Team, for all the wonderful content they keep pumping out every week; I know at times my constant messaging every Sunday can get annoying at times, but everyone still replies and we all still stick together.

A thank you to:

Shannon Beam, Brandi Celi, Amy Dillman, Caroline Downs, Sara Gunter (to-be graduate), Angelica Haber, Natalie Hart, Cortney Hilderbran, Lexy Lexis (graduate), Leah Setzer (graduate), Katie Wiles, and my wonderful Exec team: Sabryna Davis, Sam Hiller and Montana Wolfe. Also, a thank you to former content creators, ya'll helped shape the Team and helped make us a family.

It has been a pleasure working with all of you! I am thankful for all their hard work over this past semester. Thanks for sticking with me and Odyssey!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
