Whats up Dog?! ( Literally)

First I want to start off by saying I am not too found of how I used to always come home to find my shoes torn into shreds, nor was I found of how you used to leave me surprises in the house. But, when I think back there was so much you did that I was so fond of. So, Thanks.

Thanks for always coming to sleep by my bed when I was afraid of the dark. You had a bed in the living room, but my hard uncomfortable floor always seemed better to you.

Thanks for always trying to attack the pizza man when he came to the door. I knew he wasn't trying to kill us, but you didn't and the fact that you would scare him half to death was comforting because let's face it, no one was getting through that door without coming through you first.

Thanks for always going on walks with me because you made me see the world around me. Without you, I don’t think I would have ever noticed all the great trees and flowers around our house.

Thanks for always being down for the ride. The Chicfila people knew us both by name and order. When we would go through the drive-thru, I always ordered a number one with a large fry because we all knew I had to give you most of them. (Oh and Don’t forget the Chicfila sauce you loved Chick-fil-a sauce.)

Thanks for being the most inspiring swimmer I knew, honestly, I don’t think Michael Phelps would’ve had a shot at gold if you had been able to be in the Olympics. I loved throwing that ball for you across the lake.

Thanks for being understanding. As I grew up, life got busier, and I was home with you less. However, that didn't seem to matter to you, you were just thankful for when I was there. I could always count on you to be waiting at the door with a big smile when it was time for me to come home. Thanks for understanding when it was time for us to let you leave us. You were in such great pain, and something in your eyes told me it was okay that we had to let you go.

But, more importantly, more than all of this, I’m thankful for how God used you to teach me how to love well.

You were the type of friend I hope to be one day. You were always there, always happy to see me, always patient, always protective, always loads of fun. You loved so well, thank you for that. Miss you a ton. Until I see you next time…

Sincerely,

Your Best Friend

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
