A Thank You Letter For Things I Never Said To The Woman Who Gave Me Everything

I was watching a movie and I saw how close the mom was to her daughter in high school, and it made me think. I thought about things I needed to thank my mom for. I hope these are things I can say to her one day in person, like at my future wedding, but if I can't because I would cry too much, here they are. Written down for the whole world to see.

Thank you for raising me the way you did.

Thank you for being strict when you needed to be since I wasn't the best listener and you had to be both parents for me.

Thank you for teaching me that being single is okay. I know the struggles we went through because of it, but we are stronger for that.

Thank you for giving me everything I needed and almost everything I wanted, even though I didn't see it when I was younger.
Thank you for giving me amazing memories that I will never forget.

Thank you for making me feel safe, even when we didn't live in the best of neighborhoods. I never knew it, and that's because of you.

Thank you for not showing me how much pain you were in all the time. Instead of showing me that you were upset, you would just shut your door, and now I see why.

Thank you for putting up with me through my teenage years, I know how horrible I was.

Thank you for supporting me in everything I do.

Thank you for allowing me to do my own thing and realize how much I need you.

Thank you for telling me 'I am not your friend, I am your mother' when I was younger.

Thank you for becoming my best friend after I truly understood what you meant.

Thank you for putting me before you always.

Thank you for making him feel like family already.

Thank you for being there for me.

You deserve your own happiness now. I know you hate the word 'happy' because you've always been a half empty glass type of person, but you do. I'm okay to be on my own now. I'm in the right hands, and you will be too. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do for me, mom. I love you to the moon and back.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
