We all have different relationships with our colleges but Wagner is something special. It's a love-hate for most of us. We love most aspects but hate things like the Harborview Hill and the lack of heat or AC in Towers. Wagner is a home away from home, with days spend lounging in bed or playing Spike Ball on Sutter Oval. We have a lot to thank Wagner for.
1. Thank you, Admissions.
If we didn't thank the group of people who read our essays and analyzed our SAT scores then this whole article wouldn't exist. We have to give a special thank you to the people who gave us the letter saying were admitted to Wagner College. Thank you for giving me a second home.
2. Thank you, SGA.
Most of the student body was up in arms about the four year housing requirement, but the Student Government Assosiation made strides to change it. Students can now live off campus senior year if they're in good standing with Wagner. Lead by Dillon Quinn, the SGA has been making changes to improve security, housing and the overall quality of life here on campus. Thank you for hearing our complaints, compliments and everything in between.
3. Thank you, Monica and the rest of Public Safety.
We take having an open campus for granted. I have friends at other schools with gates surrounding their campuses. Public Safety works very hard to make sure we are all comfortable and without harm. They have to deal with issues from people getting transported to sending a golf cart to Harborview to get my Grandma up the hill. Public Safety is always there to answer our calls and concerns, for that we thank you.
4. Thank you, Professors and Doctors.
A college is nothing without the education to uphold it. Some professors are more likable than others, but regardless, they each make Wagner what we know it as. From our first semester LC professors to our academic advisor, every teacher we have leaves an imprint. Wagner's academic staff knows our faces and our names, we are more than just a number to them and that is something to thank them for.
5. Thank you, Wag Starbucks.
Especially to Faiza for making me take fruit to fill my morning swipe. Mornings are never joyful but everyone behind the counter never fails to make me smile. I've never had a complaint about my iced green tea and the same goes for my roommate and her vanilla bean frap. Thank you to the staff for starting my stressful days off with cheery mornings.
6. Thank you, Lee Manchester.
I can't speak for the student body, but personally I read every email. I like to know whats going on around campus and you do the job. When my friends and I see you wondering campus, it's a celebrity sighting. Thank you for knowing everything from what guest speaker is going to be in Manzulli to what sorority is having a fundraiser in Union. Geoffrey Hempill also gets a special shoutout for sending countless emails about internships. Thanks for trying to push me into the real world.
7. Thank you, friends.
Wagner is the place that brought us all together. We're Seahawks together and I wouldn't have it any other way. As freshmen, we all live in the same building and I know we're all upset to see that change for the next years to come. You have all made me love this place more than I thought possible. A place is nice but it's the people that make the memories connected to it. Thanks for being the best bunch of Seahawks that make me miss this place during break.
With summer approaching quickly, I know I'll miss the little aspects of Wagner. I'm going to miss having Joe from Harborview security greet me on late nights, I'll miss seeing familiar faces literally every place on campus and I'll miss living 20 feet away from my best friends. Thank you Wagner for giving me the best college experience.
