Thank You, Tove Lo

She just gets it, ya know?

Thank You, Tove Lo

I've never identified with a song as much as I do with Tove Lo and her song "Timebomb." She sounds more like she’s talking than singing, which is great because I can’t sing for the life of me. It doesn’t really have a catchy flow and I can’t really hold a rhythm. Its perfect.

“We’re not forever

You’re not the one”

Those are the lyrics that repeat themselves over and over for the chorus. Tove Lo knows that not every boy you go out with is going to be The One. You will not fall madly in love with every man you spend your Friday nights with. You most likely will have more heartbreak and agony than love. She understands reality instead of an artist like Taylor Swift, who gives false hope. Don’t get me wrong, Taylor Swift has some amazing songs like "Better than Revenge" or "Picture to Burn" that can be realistic. But it's the hits like "I’d Lie," "Today was a Fairytale" and "Our Song." Her hits convey that some boys will sweep you of your feet in a whirlwind romance when the chances of that happening in our teen years are slim to none.

Tove Lo gets that she’s creating a Timebomb. Every new relationship is the beginning to an end. Only downside is we just don’t know when it will blow up, or who it will blow up on.

“You and I could be the best thing ever

We’re not happy ever after

We don’t got what it takes

And we don’t make plans

‘Cause we’re never gonna last”

She really captures that not all men will last like we image in our heads. Because, let's face it, after a month or two of seeing someone new, we ladies get a little crazy. We think about what we want him to get us for our birthday, which could be seven months away or Christmas when its May. We think what game you can get the two of you tickets to, even though its post season currently. Tove Lo doesn’t show her crazy. She doesn’t make plans because she set off the Timebomb quicker than milk's expiration date. She knows better than to think too far ahead when it isn't going to last.

“But really, what’s the worst thing that could happen

When the worst thing that could happen, could be the best thing ever”

I think the above lyrics are by far the best in the song. I've jumped into going out with one too many jerks and scumbags thinking that I can turn them around. I've been with total players and thought I could make them settle. My outcomes were not the best things ever. Her lyrics made me think, what if I tried someone completely out of the ordinary? The worst thing to happen could possibly be the best thing ever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
