Thank You To The Best Big Brother

I was lucky enough to not just have a sibling, I got a best friend out of the deal too.

I hope this doesn’t get too sappy for you, because I know you’re not into that stuff. For 19 years you’ve watched me grow. From an adorable baby, to a hellion child, to the young lady I am today. You`ve stuck with me through it all. Even though, I’m pretty sure most of you wished you were an only child. But you’re not, and it's not going to change! You are stuck with me for life. But because you’ve always been there for me, you have given me a lifetime of memories and have taught me many valuable lessons.

Thank you for sticking with me when times got rough.

You were my rock, the person who was always there. You and your buddies always made sure I had everything I needed. When one household split into two, you had my back. You were always there to talk and even when I cried you sat beside me and told me that everything would be okay. You showed me how much you cared.

Thank you for always being down for dinner and grabbing late night snacks

You are always willing to be my dinner date when I haven’t grabbed dinner yet, or if I’m cooking. I can always depend on you to be sitting at the table when I put food on it. I can always count on you to want to run to McDonalds or Sheetz at midnight just to grab a snack. It may not seem like a lot to you but it means the world to me.

Thank you for making me tough

Whether it was teaching me how to fight, getting me through hard times, beating me up for ruining your stuff because of you I am stronger. You taught me that though girls don’t cry, to stand up and brush it off, and don’t be a wimp. You made my punches stronger, my word choice more elaborate and you made me emotionally and physically tough.

Thank you for being a role model

I know when people think of you they don’t always see the same qualities as I do. When we were small you hated that I wanted to do everything that you did. But look at us now, me following in your footsteps as you teach me the ropes of the fire department. You are my person that I can look up to for help and encouragement when I need it. You’re also the person that can push me to my limit and over the edge because you believe in me and know I can handle it.

Thank you for being my best friend

I was lucky enough to not just have a sibling, I got a best friend out of the deal too. Knowing that I always have you means more than you will ever know. Seeing you proud of me and my accomplishments makes me the happiest person in the world. I'll always be grateful for the many times you let me tag along with you and the guys and making memories that will last a lifetime. I have big hopes and dreams and I’m happy that you will always be here to support me and get rid of the people who don’t. Thanks for always having my back.

Love you always,

Your Baby Sister

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
