A Thank You To Pets

Where would we be without our furry friends?

A Thank You To Pets

Whether you are a die-hard cat or dog person, one thing can be said about you, nonetheless. If you take the time to think about it, you have a lot to thank your pet for. I still can't get over how stinking cute my cat and dog are, it's probably obnoxious, but newsflash. I really don't care. Pets somehow manage to become our best friends without ever saying a word to us. You can never truly be alone if you have your pet with you.

Thank you to our pets for sharing their whole lives with us. They may only be around for part of our time on earth, but we play a major role in their entire lives. That's an incredible thing to be able to share, make sure you don't let it go to waste.

Pets know when we're sad and try to comfort us. Pets can sense our emotions and try to make us feel better. I know when I'm sad, my cat head butts me and makes me pet him and my dog lays on my lap and licks my arm and smiles at me. Pets are intelligent and they have the ability to surprise us every single day.

Being greeted at the door by my dog and cat is a favorite part of my day. Our pets love when we come home, even if you live with other people, they get excited to see each person return. It's uplifting for you as a pet owner and for them as your furry legged friend.

Each pet has their own weird quirks, which as your owner you see as adorable, even when it may be kind of annoying. My cat won't eat food unless someone walks down the stairs with him and stands by his food dish for a minute. My dog chases you down the hall and barks at you if you walk in the house without petting him. I bet your pet has weird habits too, but they just make you love them all the more.

They are just too dang cute and I can't get over it. I'm that annoying pet owner who will post pictures of my pet to my Snapchat story and put the heart eye emoji. Guaranteed, at least once a week. Sleeping pets are even cuter, especially when they start dreaming. All animals are cute, it can't even be denied.

You can talk to your pet about anything, I know it sounds crazy. When I'm upset or stressed out my dog can tell. He follows me around with sad eyes and wags his tail when I look at him. When I talk to him, he stands there and looks at me. I tell him about life and I feel a little better. Maybe that makes me a crazy dog lady, but I think we both like the heart-to-hearts.

When life is hard, we can always count on our four-legged friends. They're always there and willing to make you feel better. It's only right that we make sure our pets are always happy and healthy, too. Let's be honest, it's only right to be totally obsessed with our pets and spoil them to no end.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
