A Thank You To Our Crimson Tide

If you’ve attended the University of Alabama in the last five years, you have a lot to be thankful for.

Not only does our campus look straight out of a storybook, but this all, we had our largest freshmen class to enter, with 7,211 students. UA is a leader among public universities in National Merit Scholars, with more than 600 enrolled. Our institution also ranked in the top 50 public universities in the nation in U.S. News and World Report college rankings.

Scholarly accolades aside, the University of Alabama is also known for the obvious: our football team.

The Alabama Crimson Tide made millions of fans proud this year, not only by earning their spot in the Cotton Bowl College Football Semifinal Game but a chance at yet another National Championship title to sit pretty alongside their first 15.

So, 2015-2016 Crimson Tide, our students, faculty, alumnae and fans have some thanking to do.

Thank you for your tireless efforts in making us one of the best teams in the nation. Undoubtedly to us, you’re obviously the favorite to win every post-season game. We stand by that hard work of yours, and know that we support you all each and every step of the way.

Thank you for giving our University an enormous sense of pride. Anyone who has, does, or will attend the University of Alabama proudly wears that beautiful script A across our chests as we walk through airports, shopping malls and everywhere in between. We’re very prideful, and there’s a reason why.

While the wins are nice, and while being an amazing football team means the world to your fans, know this: we love our Crimson Tide for so much more than the wins.

We love our Crimson Tide because they’re great human beings. Our Crimson Tide is made up of people we’re proud of.

Our Crimson Tide is made up of people who give of themselves to other individuals, and this includes the fans.

Our Crimson Tide is made up of people who give back to our community.

Our Crimson Tide is made of people who fight; who strive each and every day to be better people than they were the day before.

Crimson Tide fans love to win. We’ve grown accustomed to winning. But know this: when we don’t win, we’re just as proud.

We are just as excited, prideful, and thrilled for our Crimson Tide.

Why? Because not only is our team (just this year) equipped with a Heisman Trophy, Maxwell, Doak Walker and Walter Camp Player of the Year Award recipient and includes four AFCA FBS All-Americans, but we also have a team of well-rounded individuals -- which, for the record, most football programs across the country probably cannot confidently say.

Thank you to our Crimson Tide. You’ve made us equally as proud on the field as you have off the field. Crimson Tide fans wish you nothing but the best of luck in the post-season...

...And as per usual, Roll Tide.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
