A Special Thank You To My Parents

To the parents who never failed to support me and who never let me down, I promise I'll make you proud.

A Special Thank You To My Parents
Paxton Gutierrez

Dear Mom and Dad,

Thank you. Thank you for always supporting me. For raising me as a military brat and teaching me to stand up for myself and be independent. The two of you have been perfect examples of what it looks like to work for what you want and never give up. Thank you for serving this country and for always inspiring and pushing me to do better simply because you know I have it in me. Thank you for supporting me throughout my journey in band and into color guard. Mom, thank you for always doing my hair for me before performances and competitions (because I couldn't seem to ever be able to do it right myself) despite how much a bad mood/panic I may have been in. Dad, thank you for never failing to take pictures every time I performed and for helping out the guard, band and football teams. Thank you both for always staying late after games and competitions even though you had work the very next day bright and early and for waking up early to drive me to practices before I was old enough to drive myself.

Thank you for pushing me when it came to football and always encouraging me. Even during the times when I wanted to quit, the two of you never failed to serve as one of my biggest support systems. Thank you for letting me go back to guard while I was in football and for letting me do both at the same time and for always cheering me on in the stands. Thank you for some of the best home cooked meals, bbq and baking -I apologize for being such a pain and refusing to get into all of that but I think by now we all know that I would much rather eat the food than make it and maybe that's for the best (lol).

I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am for everything you guys have done for me. From the pageant weekends that seem to go on forever to the never ending marching band performances and competitions to the football games where mom was constantly screaming because she always gets just a little too excited to watch a football game. Thank you for supporting my interest in modeling and acting and helping me find my way along that journey.

Thank you for showing me that education should always be a priority and that 'too much of an education' doesn't exist. Thank you for encouraging me to go to college from a very early age, to chase after my dreams of going onto Law School and becoming a successful attorney and for showing me that I really can do anything I set my mind to. Thank you for your unconditional love no matter how cranky I am. I could thank the both of you a million times and it would still never be enough to compare to how grateful I am to have you guys as my parents.

I promise I won't let you guys down,

Your daughter

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
