"My goal in life is to become as good as a person as my pets already think I am."

A Thank You To My Pets
Jovanni Santiago

My whole life I have never not had an animal in my house. Whether it was a dog, bird, fish, or frog we always had something. I have learned so much from my pets and I am forever grateful. They do so many things to make us laugh. Having pets is so amazing because each one comes with its own personality, which makes them all so different and fun to watch. So, my pets here is what I thank you for.

1. Thank you for always giving me a laugh

Even when I have the worst day I can always come home and rely on you to make me laugh. You can always sense that I am upset and know exactly what to do. Because of you I will never have a gloomy day because at the end of each one I get to come home to you.

2. Thank you for teaching me how to take care of something other than myself.

You have taught me that you need taking care of to. You have showed me what responsibility is and most importantly how to take care of you. Having you has taught me to make sure you have food, water, and that you're clean. Thank you for trusting me to take care of you.

3. Thank you for helping me decide what I want to do with my future.

Because of you I have made the decision to help not only you, but other animals as well. I have learned that taking care of you is my passion. There is nothing else in the world I'd rather do than spend my whole day with animals. I have learned that you and many other animals mean so much to us people and the world, so why not join in on helping keep you all healthy?

4. Most importantly, thank you for teaching me how to love.

I have learned so much from having you in my life, but the most important of all is that you have taught me how to love. You showed me how important it is for an animal to receive the same love that you give. No animal deserves to be mistreated and abandoned and I have learned that because I have you. Your love is unconditional and mine is to you as well. Thank you for teaching me to have an open heart no matter what kind of animal comes my way.

To all my pets I thank you for the life lessons I have learned from you. I hope I have taught you things as well.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
