Thank You To My New Friend

Have you ever had someone impact your life so much in a short time? I just want to thank my best friend for being amazing. At student orientation before college, I met my current best friend, and we connected instantly. Throughout freshmen year she became my best friend. I can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for me. I have never felt so cared for. She goes out of her way to make my day. My best friend has helped me become the person I am today and I have never felt more like myself. Thank you to my new best friend for helping me bring out the best version of myself.

Thank you for making sure I am okay.

We have been through a lot together in such a short time. When I am struggling in school you ask me how you can help. I do not feel embarrassed to admit I need help sometimes and I’m not perfect. You give me the best advice on how to take the next step or you struggle with me and we just laugh through it. When my grandma passed away you were the first person I ran to and you helped me through it. I know that any time I need a laugh I can go to you.

Thank you for teaching me how to be stronger.

I was always a pushover, but today I can actually stand up for myself. You do not care what people think of you, and even if you don't see it, you are a natural leader. You helped me find my voice. When I want to do things that make me happy and I am scared to do it, you encourage me to do what I want. I have learned from you that I can be greedy and that I put myself first sometimes. And that’s okay, sometimes I need to do to that. You have also taught me how to relax and let loose. When we are together there’s no filter; we say and do what we want. I never feel judged or ashamed.

Thank you for listening to me.

I feel like I can always come to you and talk about anything. And I mean ANYTHING. Our conversations make me laugh and makes most people around us laugh. I feel like if I have to tell you something you hear me out and give me the best advice. We complete each other’s sentences and have inside jokes. I have always felt with other people I was the one who was the listener and they never heard my problems or what I had to say. With you it’s different and I feel cared for.

Thank you for helping me become a better person.

Even though you are sassy you are the most caring friend. When others are dealing with stuff you go above and beyond to find out what’s wrong and will help them. I have learned from you to take the time to find out more about others. I also have learned to be more confident in myself. You know how I have a low self-esteem and you seem to know how to pick me up. You taught me to love who I am.

I may not say this enough but thank you for being the best friend that I have ever had. I am so blessed to have met you. You are more than a friend, you're like my sister. The things you have done for me have really changed my life, and I have never felt more like myself. You have my back and I will always have yours. Thank you for being you and never change. I don’t think you realize how many lives that you light up, or how much people look up to you and respect you. I can’t imagine going through these memories with anyone else.

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
