A Thank You To My Honorary Roomies
Cassy Annie

Dear Roomies,

Long time no see, right? What’s it been, like two hours since you last saw me on your couch? You may think I’m crazy, in fact, I know you think I’m crazy, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything you do for me. This may be completely lame and weird, but I feel like it’s long over due. So, thank you for honestly just being you and letting me invade your room on the daily.

As everyone probably knows, I’m a commuter, but I spend so much time on campus I practically live at my school. And I wouldn’t be able to be as involved as I am if it wasn’t for my crazy awesome bunch of friends who deal with me every single day. They have been letting me inhabit their rooms for over a year now and I think they have finally accepted the fact that I will probably be there for the rest of their lives. They call me their honorary roomie and I’m so blessed to have found them because I’d honestly be a totally different person without them.

A year ago, I was this semi-shy little girl who wasn’t exactly sure who were going to be her friends for the next four years. I came to Mis and boy am I glad I found you. Thanks for adopting me in a way that no one else will understand. Thanks for feeding me when I get hungry, walking me safely to my car always, letting me borrow shirts, shorts, shoes, socks, and the rest of your wardrobes, and for inviting me to all the fun. Thank you for the endless sleep overs, late night studying, laughs and cries and cuddles and most of all, walking down multiple flights of stairs just to let me into the building.

I am honored to have at least 17 honorary roomies who are always there when I need them. I think it’s about time to give them all a quick shout out and thank you. So, here goes nothing. Em, thanks for being there whenever I need you and also for letting me borrow your fabulous wardrobe all the time. Liv, twinnie, thank you for always showing me the bright side of things and always keeping me positive. Kass, thanks for sharing my name, our love for food, and your adorable giggle. Crystal, thanks for keeping me laughing, always and for going on crazy, old lady Zumba with me. Jess, thanks for being bae and sitting with me in a bath tub!! Emily, thanks for all the compliments and keeping the streak forever. Shy, thanks for always brightening my day and for listening to me whenever I need to talk. Katie, thanks for all you do for me. I don't know what I'd do without your crazy self and, also, for your bed. Megan, thanks for all the advice and words of wisdom, and also all the silliness along the way. Courtney, thanks for letting me invade your room all the time and for talking about makeup! Steph, thanks for the pink comfy chair and for accepting me as a new roomie. Claudia, thanks for being my mommy all the time 'cause I love when you call me sweetie. Megan, thanks for all the confidence that radiates off you and for trying to teach me yoga. Adam, thanks for letting me walk in without knocking and for dealing with me for 12 years in counting. Chrissy, thanks for being the best big sister ever and for letting me use you as my blank canvas sometimes. Charlotte, thanks for dealing with me literally all last year and don’t worry, I’ve been busy, but I will come visit all the time!!! And Ana, you’re probably never going to see this because you don’t have facebook, but thank you for being my number one fan, always. Thanks for never failing to be there when I needed you. You are an amazing person and wherever my future takes me I hope you are right there by my side forever.

I know I’m not easy, but all of you make me better. You make me want to do and be better. Never stop being who you are because I wish the world could have a thousand of you. You guys don’t know how much you mean to me, but I hope this shows it a little. Love you and see you soon!

Love,
Cassy

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
