To the people I spend too much time with: my college friends,
I am extremely happy to say that freshman year brought us all together and I can honestly say that my college experience would be less memorable and much less enjoyable without you. Sure, there are times when we are stressed out or upset with one another, but a true friendship experiences ups and downs, not just the ups. I never thank you all enough for being such great friends, which is the reason for this letter of course!
First off, thank you for always being there. From helping me pick out outfits, to reminding me of whatever it is I have to do. Thank you for coming with me to the store even though you don’t need anything, walking all the way to the dining hall when you know I only have 10 minutes to eat and letting me borrow your clothes for the fifth day in a row. Oh yeah, and thank you for feeding me your food when you know I have my own in my room that is only a four second walk down the hallway. Thank you for letting me cry to you and vent to you. Thank you for accepting me and all of my weirdness and thank you for making your room feel like an extension of my own room.
Without you, I would not enjoy eating the gourmet food Sodexo serves (yes, I’m being sarcastic), and I would dread waking up early on weekends to go to the library. It is because of you that I look forward to these things. I love eating together every night and I look forward to spending every weekend morning together, even though we inevitably end up at the library. There is no other group of people I would rather go out with and there is no group of people I would rather be with while staying in and watching a movie. I am grateful to have you all at all times during the week. Whether in the dining hall, at the bars or in the car for a coffee run, I always have someone by my side.
You have made college the wonderful and memorable experience it is so far. From spending hours upon hours studying together to waiting in line for chicken fingers at 2 a.m., I would not want to share these experiences with anyone else. We always have the best time together. Dancing in the mirror while we simultaneously brush on our mascara (multitasking at its finest), and eating out of a jar of pickles as we laugh about how stupid we are, are simple instances that become memories. I am so lucky that you are the five people that I get to share these seemingly ordinary experiences with.
You make college feel like home, like a place I never want to leave and always want to return to. After college, I’ll be lost without you all every day, but I know you are not merely college friends, but rather my lifelong best friends.
~ Your very grateful friend xox
P.S. You're never getting rid of me, sorry!
