To my Best Friend,

I wanted to take some time and just simply thank you. Thank you for being exactly what I needed in this season of my life. Thank you for being truly the best friend I could have ever asked for. You deserve to know how amazing you are through my eyes.

Thank you for starting our friendship.

Almost two years ago exactly, you reached out to me over messenger and started a conversation. Who knew that two years later we would be sending daily polo's to each other! You reached out and I will never forget out first sushi date and thinking to myself during it, "I want to be like her someday." and that still stands true today.

Thank you for always giving me your time.

Words cannot express how much I appreciate all the time you've given to me. You've listened to many polos and talked me through many phone calls; You have also sat through a lot of pointless polos and rants. Thank you for helping me get ready for events and thank you for always listening and for sharing your wisdom with me.

Thank you for always loving me.

This is a big thank you from me. For many years, and occasionally still now, I don't feel deserving of love from others. You always tell me that you love me. You have shown me love like an older sister does and you've encouraged and supported me through so much. You love others so well by giving your time and sharing your wisdom with others. The way you love people has impacted so many more people than you may be aware of.

Thank you for being my friend.

Thank you for choosing to do life with me. You are one of my favorite people to spend time with. After spending time with you, I always leave feeling refreshed. Your friendship means the world to me and I hope to be half the friend that you are to me. You bring so much joy into my life and you bring new perspectives on things I have never noticed. *Cue "True Friend" by Hannah Montana now. ;)

Thank you for sharing your faith with me.

Your love for the Lord is unlike anything I have seen. The way you follow the Lord and keep Him at the center of everything you do is so inspiring. I see Christ shining through you all the time and it brings me so much joy to see that. God has used you to bring so many others closer to him. You inspire me.

Thank you for being you.

You are everything I want to be. I see you as not only my best friend but my role model and mentor. You have given me hope on my darkest days. You have been the vessel for the Lord to show His love for me through you. You are kind, generous, loving, joyful, understanding, compassionate, and so many other things that make you who you are. You are so beautiful. You are the strongest person I know. You are resilient and brave. You are amazing and I am thankful for you just as you are.

I look up to you in so many ways and I wanted to take time to remind you are cherished and important you are. I want this to be a reminder for you when you feel insecure or like you're not enough. I want you to feel encouraged all the time. You have made a big impact on my life and this is only the beginning to a lifelong friendship we now share. Without you, I wouldn't be the person I am and I wouldn't be here without you. Thank you for being my friend.

Love you endlessly!

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
