Thank You To My Brother

You are an amazing friend.

Thank You To My Brother
jazmin herrera

I must admit that the first time I met you during my sophomore year, I would have never thought that YOU would become one of my few true best friends. Who knew that this messy-haired troll, who loved to wear his blue flannel ALL THE TIME, would become my brother. There were a few times I doubted our friendship, as I'm sure you have to. I thought you were just another high school friendship that would be left in high school, but you weren't. You weren't just another high school friendship. Because you're "real af" you remained my friend.

You have guided me through my problems, big or small. When I am at lowest or highest you're there. You are always 100 percent honest, and you are the most understanding human being that I have ever come across. You manage to make me feel better, even when you are not directly approaching what bummed me out. If you are not cheering me up with laughs, you are texting me (at 20 words per second) long messages of advice and comfort. You even helped me get out of the denial that I felt something for the person whom now is the love of my life. Thanks to you, you are one of the reasons why I have my boyfriend by my side today. In all honesty, because if you, you have helped me make my life a lot simpler.

You have been there when I am a total loser or winner at life. You have listened to my breakdowns and listen to the same vents over and over again, like a broken record. Honestly having you around has gotten me through tough times in my life. You have taken the time out of your day, upset or not, to listen to me. I am able to run to you with my good and bad news. Despite what you are going through, you are all ears and open arms.

I just want you to know, that everything that you have done for me, I will do for you. I will be here when you need someone. I will be here through the good times and the bad times. I'll be there to listen to you brag about your girlfriend. I'll be there to listen about how strict your abuela is. I owe you. I don't know what I would have done in the past if our friendship wasn't here. There have been many times that our friendship could have faded or never be created in the first place. Our friendship defeated the odds and is still here today.

Our friendship has made you my brother. You are the big brother that God did not give me biologically. Who knew he would choose you to take that place in my life. I am thankful for our friendship. Thank you for being such an amazing brother, person, and most importantly: my friend.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
