If you are a woman of any age and haven't watched the OG "Gilmore Girls" series, stop what you're doing and binge watch. "Gilmore Girls" has affected me and who I am as a person. I honestly believe they are what started my whole "let me have coffee, I don't care if it will stunt my growth" phase as a middle schooler. That being said, I'm fairly positive it did stunt my growth. However, my addiction to coffee stuck with me and I have Lorelai and Rory to thank for that.
While I have very strong hopes of a future spin-off show where (spoiler alert) Rory is the mother and best friend, I'm here currently to say a strong thank you and short goodbye (until I decide to re-watch the entire series for the eighth time) to "Gilmore Girls."
Without my favorite mother-daughter duo I would never have picked up their intense speed talk. Without even trying my words tend to fly out of my mouth and I have no one to blame but them. Not to mention my love for food, specifically Mexican. Tacos were a trend from season one all the way through the revival. Similar to how I eat Mexican at least three times a week. I also learned that just like Rory, nothing really excites me before 11 a.m.
Overall, I want to thank Amy Sherman-Palladino who created this wonderful world of Stars Hollow and all of its wonderful characters. Through this show, I grew up with Rory, I tried (and fell in love with) coffee, I experienced heartbreak, I learned how to be witty, sarcastic and keep everyone on their toes. I was inspired to become hard working and I learned that while some dreams may not come true, dreams are allowed to change. I learn something new every single time I watch "Gilmore Girls," including the fact that Lorelai was the original "Kermit sipping tea" meme.
"Gilmore Girls" has taught me many things and helped shape me into who I am today. I will forever look up to Lorelai and Rory as my role models, in hopes of following my dreams and handling whatever life throws at me to the best of my ability. As our beloved Richard Gilmore would say, "What she tackles, she conquers."
