Thank You, Phi Lamb, For Giving Me My Sense Of Belonging On The Ole Miss Campus

Joining Phi Lamb has been one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself.

Thank You, Phi Lamb, For Giving Me My Sense Of Belonging On The Ole Miss Campus

So, my sorority had Friendsgiving this week and I had a conversation with one of my fellow new members about how time has flown by since our new member retreat and we all decided to join Phi Lamb. Once I really thought about it, I couldn't believe how fast this semester has gone by or how close our new member class has grown. We all went from having random ways of remembering each other's names to being close friends that see each other all the time. (I mean seriously, I was "Beat Bama" to the girl I had this conversation with because I wore a shirt with big, bold letters that said "Beat Bama" during our new member retreat. And she was "Virginia from Virginia.")

By the time I decided I wanted to join Phi Lamb my freshman year, recruitment had already passed. At the time, I was extremely upset about this because I really felt like I needed to find my place on campus through Phi Lamb. But now, I know that God's plan was much greater than mine. By not being able to join Phi Lamb my freshman year, I was able to join it in the fall of my sophomore year with the best group of girls I could have ever asked for, including Virginia from Virginia but of course many, many, many others as well, both in my new member class and Phi Lamb members in general.

Being a new member of Phi Lamb this semester has been such a blessing, and I am so grateful for the sisterhood I've found with so many sisters in Christ. From loving every minute of Plan Z for new member retreat, to service projects, to chapter, to new member meetings, to Friendsgiving, to prayer groups, to intramural volleyball, to gaining the best big and twin, to simply meeting for lunch on campus, I would not replace a single moment I've spent with my Phi Lamb sisters.

Again, I can't believe how fast this first semester has flown by, but I've so enjoyed each and every moment of it. Thank you, Phi Lamb, for giving me my sense of belonging on the Ole Miss campus. To my fellow new members, see you soon for initiation(:

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
