As I was trying to come up with an idea for my last Odyssey article, I began to reflect on what writing for this social platform has meant to me.
First of all, it allowed me to have a voice I didn't know I had. I got to talk about the issues that I'm really passionate about. The best part of it all was that people actually listened. To me, Odyssey is all about articles that people can identify with. Before I wrote for Odyssey, that's the reason why I read the articles on my news feed. I loved knowing that people related to my articles, and that was one of the main reasons why I wanted to write for Odyssey.
Odyssey also allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. I wrote about things that I would usually be scared to talk about, but Odyssey gave me a safe space to be who I am. The best part of Odyssey is the community, especially the Penn State Odyssey group. They have pushed me to write my true feelings. Everyone was always so supportive and encouraging, and that's exactly what I needed. I will never be able to repay and thank Penn State's crew enough.
Thank you, Odyssey for everything you have done for me, other writers, and other readers. Because of you, we all have felt heard and understood. You have touched our lives in more ways than one. Although my time has come to end my adventure with Odyssey, it will still be a major part of my life. I cannot wait to continue reading all of the incredible articles that come out of this platform. Thank you, Odyssey! Keep being great!
