Dear Nap Time,
First, can I just thank the person or people who came up with the idea of naps? Thank you so much. And now secondly, to the actual nap time itself: Thanks!
Now as everyone knows, naps are the greatest things you can ever do. Feeling a little sleepy after class? Take a nap. You're a bit sick? Hit that pillow my friend. Need to recharge your batteries? That comfy spot on the floor is calling your name. They are perfect from what I've experienced myself. Sometimes a nap can last as short as five minutes, or even longer to an hour and a half, and instantly, you'll be awake and recharge ready for the rest of your day.
Naps can lead you to a better performance in so many things like reading, writing, homework, working out, thinking, etc., and sometimes you may find yourself in awkward or goofy places to be sleeping. For example, a few years ago I once slept under the seats of a bus on the way to a swim meet. Bus seats are very uncomfortable, so I opted for the choice that would allow me to sleep. Other examples include a sunny spot on the grass somewhere on a campus, the floor underneath a desk, or even on top of a desk.
Taking a nap shouldn't really be seen as a lazy task. Most of the time, it's a college student resting their eyes while studying for a test in order to retain information, a writer who's lacking that extra power in order to complete a certain scene they've been tackling all day, or a student who just needed time to sleep since they had an early morning or late night work shift. Don't judge. Naps are amazing. No wonder our parents always made us take them when we were younger. We were probably big balls of energy.
We can't forget the best thing about napping. It gives our brain a chance to keep working, helping us overcome a huge problem, or coming up with a new idea. Sometimes I think better when I'm napping. Not to mention the strangest nap dreams I have every time I close my eyes. Thank you naps for keeping my imagination running, to show me new ways to work around a question.
I'll say it one last time: naps are incredible. They've saved me this year in school and in between shifts at work, as I'm sure they have saved many others out there.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to take a nap.
