A Thank-You Note To The College Roommates Who Have My Back

Dear Roommates,

When I sat down and tried to figure out how to write something that summarized just how thankful I am for all of you, I realized that it was completely impossible. There’s so many hundreds of thousands of reasons why I am so thankful to have you all in my life, so I composed a letter of just a few of them.

Thank you for encouraging most of my online shopping purchases and for reminding me when I’m probably running out of money. Thank you for hyping me up when we’re all getting ready to go out. Thank you for dealing with my weird habits like never sleeping and constantly scream-singing my feelings.

Thank you for listening to me freak out about anything and everything that Taylor Swift does. Thank you for dealing my obsession with “FRIENDS” and the fact that I want to decorate our apartment like Monica’s. Thank you for letting me be a neat freak to the point where it gets annoying.

Thank you for not judging me too much when I say that I haven’t seen whatever movie you’re discussing. Thank you for all the low-key lazy weekends. Thank you for all the great weekends, too. Thank you for the countless inside jokes, endless singing and unnecessary ordering of McDonald’s from UberEats.

Thank you for being my biggest cheerleaders and my personal therapists. Thank you for making sure that I don’t procrastinate too much on my assignments or sleep through my 9:30s. Thank you for being there to listen to my good news as well as my bad. Thank you for calming me down when I feel like I’m just going to fail out.

Thank you for building me up when I feel torn down. Thank you for reminding me that I deserve a lot better than I was given previously. Thank you for endlessly defending me. Thank you for always offering to get into a fight for me because we all know that I don’t do conflict.

Thank you for dealing with my panic attacks and my strong feelings on most things.

Thank you for changing my college experience for the better. Thank you for being my best friends.

Thank you for everything.

Sincerely,

Me

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
