Thank You, Mom.

You are my best friend, hero, and role model.

Thank You, Mom.
Megann Gaylor

Growing up my mom always said, “You’re going to be just like me one day.” I always rolled my eyes and said it would never happen.

But one day I was babysitting and I said something to a child and my mother came out. My mother literally came right out of my mouth. I immediately called her and laughed and said, “You were right, I am you.”

But I couldn’t be happier that I am exactly like my mother. She is the bravest, strong willed person that I know ,and I am honored to be her daughter. I only hope that one day I can raise my children like she did going through college, working a full time job, and having a husband overseas -- nothing has stopped her. I have never met anyone who isn’t afraid to tell you how they feel like she does. She will tell you like it is, and if you don’t like it, too bad.

She raised me to never be afraid of anything, to shoot for my dreams and to never look back. I am so thankful for that. Without her, I wouldn’t be able to say that I have gotten on a plane and traveled through five countries in Western Europe with strangers, or that I moved to North Carolina by myself at 18. I hope that one day I can be as strong and as brave as her.

So mom, Thank You. Thank you for always pushing me to be the best I can be, to never be afraid of change, or commitment, and overall, just being my best friend. I can never thank you enough for everything you have done for me and will continue to do. You are my hero and I strive to be more like you daily.

Thank you for my obsessions with raw cake batter, shih tzus, and "90210." Thank you for telling me to never leave the house without lipstick or earrings. Lastly, thank you for being the best role model and mom I could ever ask for. I love you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
