Dear Mom,
I don’t even know where to start. You’ve been there for me since the day I was born. You protected me from the evils the world can bring and you have shown me the most glorious things about life. Your guidance has helped me through the good, the bad, and the ugly. From personal issues to boyfriend problems you’ve had my back. During the teenage years when I thought I knew everything, you allowed me to learn, even if it had to be the hard way.
Not only are you my teacher, you are my best friend. From the shared nights on the couch watching Grey's Anatomy and laughing about funny things our dogs would do, to the “just you and I” dinners at a restaurant we would choose after we got in the car and started driving. I acquired my love of food and cooking from you. We don’t get to spend much time in the kitchen together anymore, but I wouldn’t spend anytime in there if it wasn’t for you. Even though we may fight about me stealing all of the towels or feeding the dogs half an hour late, we both know how to give each other space to calm down and forgive one another.
You also allowed me to do things you were never able to do even though we were both scared. You let me travel to four countries overseas without you -- I’m not quite sure how you survived those ten days without me! You pushed me to do my best with my homework and grades, and not going to college wasn’t even an option (which I do understand was the best for me). You moved me into a school about an hour away from you and still managed to get it together and make the day as painless as possible. You sat with me through the multiple breakdowns of one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through and helped me cope with everything.
You are everything I need you to be, the best mom I could ever ask for. I can’t say thank you enough for everything you have done and will continue to do for me. I love you mommy (and yes I did tear up a little while writing this, proving my true thankfulness and love for you).
Love,
Paige
