Thank you.

I should thank you every single day for what you do for me. For absolutely everything. You deserve the world for what you do for my sister and I. I know we are the biggest pains sometimes, but you are always there for us.

You have been there for me through everything. When I was younger, you helped with each school event whether it be for a Halloween party or a Valentines party. Always being the one having baked goods ready to go. You were there for when I was in Girl Scouts and helping with those events as well. You helped with getting me to basketball and soccer when I was young. You were the one who offered the idea of me trying lacrosse because I had friends who were involved and fast forward 10+ years and I am still playing because you had the original idea. Then you helped get me to each practice and game. You are my biggest fan.

When it came to middle school, you gave me the confidence when I didn't have any and when I had any self doubt, you were the one to wash those worries away. I may have been a pain with having braces and having to deal with the orthodontist for years, but you gave me the chance to have a perfect smile in the end.

When it came to high school, you helped with always finding a perfect dress for each event (always at a great price). You were there for my first relationship and you were there to hear about everything. You always listened, no matter what. You always gave sound advice when ever I needed it - even if it was something I didn't want to hear, but had to hear. You were there to help me through my ACL reconstruction surgery and helped with every appointment I needed to be at and when I was stuck in bed, gave me ice cream when I wasn't feeling my best.

You were the one to teach me how to drive, even though I was so scared at first. You were the one to help me through the entire process of getting into a college, through each year, and finally helping me to finish up with it. You have been my biggest support system no matter what. Currently supporting me in my decision to try for an internship in Pittsburgh and always asking if I had heard anything new with it.

I love the chance when we are able to talk when I am away at school. I always make sure to talk to you about everything and we always end up having hour long conversations. I enjoy each one. I always get so excited for when breaks finally arrive because it means I get to go home to see you and watch our shows together.

I never needed a dad around when you were good enough to be everything for me. I love you more than anything in this world and I can never thank you enough for absolutely everything you do for me. I have pretty much cried during the entire time writing this because I could never imagine a world without you.

You are always going to be my go to person for everything. You are going to be the one to walk me down the aisle for when I get married. You are going to be there for when I have kids and you're going to be a kick ass grandma. You are going to be my person forever and always. I love you more than anything in this world and I can never thank you enough. I could thank you each day, each minute, each second... and it will never be enough. Thank you always, Mom. I love you.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
