Mom,
Ever since I was a child, you’ve held my hands and wiped my tears.
You’ve kissed my boo-boos and cheered me on.
You’ve done so many things for me.
Everything from picking me up from school to going hungry for a night just so I had something to eat.
You’ve given me life.
You’ve given my life purpose.
You’ve taught me how to be strong and that it’s okay to be weak.
You’ve taught me how to hold my own, to throw a punch when needed and to comfort others.
You’ve taught me the meaning of family and that as long as we have each other, we have everything the world has to offer.
You’ve taught me how to speak my mind, and yes, sometimes that backfires.
You’ve taught me everything I know.
There really is no way I could repay you for everything you’ve done for me,
But I can say sorry.
I am sorry for all the sleepless nights, when I was a baby and when I was a teenager.
I’m sorry for taking that last piece of pizza- I know you wanted it.
I’m sorry for saying things I didn’t mean.
I’m sorry for not being as open.
I’m sorry for not spending as much time with you as I should.
And I am so sorry for not telling you enough how important you are to me.
We seem to get so caught up in our own lives that we forget to say the things we should, forget to call, forget to apologize, forget to spend time together and forget to love a little more. But if there is anything I can count on, it’s you.
It’s that, “I love you,” every night before bed.
It’s that never ending devotion.
It’s that love that dwells deep within our hearts, connecting us for eternity.
Since the moment I was born, I had to trust you for survival.
Now, I trust you, because I know I can.
Thank you, Mom, for everything you do.
You’re the most amazing human being I know.
I love you.
