Dear Mom and Dad,

First off, I want to say thank you for giving me the experience of a lifetime. I know that you would have rather had me close to home, where you wouldn't have had to pay way too much for an international plan for me and we could see each other every month, at least. Being almost 7,000 miles away is always easy, but studying abroad is the best thing I have ever done in my life, period. It may also be one of the most gratifying experiences that I will ever have.

However, none of these opportunities would be possible without parents like you. Thank you for trusting me to do this, for supplying the "moolah" that I would not have had and for letting me live these crazy three months traveling around Europe and getting to see things that neither of you have but I wish you could and living through my pictures.

Thank you for dealing with me when all my suitcases got lost and I was crazy and then for sending me an iPhone in an eyeglass class when mine wouldn't work here and I couldn't use Google Maps. Thank you for always answering me at weird hours because of the time difference and for — mostly — sending me pictures of the dogs when I ask you. I hope you know that I'm kidding when I say I'm never leaving Italy because I miss you too much.

I could never have imagined how much I would absolutely love being here and how I can't wait for you to visit so that I can act as a tour guide and show you a little bit of how amazing it is here. To be able to live in Italy while studying the same classes I would be at home and also having the opportunity to get on a weekend flight to Paris or Barcelona at the same time is more than I ever could have dreamed of. It may be hard to adjust to life back at home, but I think that is part of the magic of studying abroad. Just know that, wherever I am, I miss you!

Lots of love.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
