Hey Best Friend,

We’ve been friends now since we were sophomores in high school (wow, does that not make you feel old!?), and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I used to hear that you never stay friends with the people you were friends with in high school. And I can’t argue with that. I don’t talk to a lot of the people I used to back in high school, but I am so happy that our friendship remained the same.

You’ve been a constant source of fun and happiness in my life and I couldn’t be more thankful for you. It didn't matter what we were doing, we always had a good time. We could have been being stupid in the halls of high school, performing on stage, goofing off at work, slicing our fingers open requiring stitches, getting all pretty for high school dances, or just hanging out.

I am so glad that even though I've moved away for college, not a thing has changed between us. Though we don’t talk all the time like we used to, I know that I can always call you to rant about stupid stuff (98% of the time), to update you on things, or just to laugh and be stupid. I am so lucky to have you as part of my life because without you, I probably wouldn’t have survived a new high school, my first job (which I contemplated quitting so many times), and these past few years without you.

From our awkwardness as high school sophomores to responsible adults, our friendship has grown and changed in so many ways. Yeah, we fought and ignored each other, and maybe we said some nasty stuff about each other along the way too. But we always got over it and moved on. I cannot wait to see where our friendship leads us as we get older because you’re my partner in crime, the person I can always be stupid and act like a kid with, the person who won’t judge me because of my horrible car singing and dancing (we’re both in the same boat when it comes to that), and the person who will always give me her honest opinion on things.

So here’s to you, best friend. Thanks for being in my life and being the awesome person that you are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
