After being on this Earth for 19 years now, I would like to proudly say that I have developed a general sense of who I am. I know that there are still so many experiences to shape who I am in the future, but as of right now I feel confident in saying I know who I am and I am comfortable being that person. There have been so many people around me that I have to thank for helping me become who I am today. Here are a few general thankyou's to those who helped me realize who I am and become comfortable being that person.

To the doubters,

Thank you for being you. Without you, I would not have become the strong person I am today. You would tell me that I wasn’t good enough, that there were always going to be people better than me, smarter than me, funnier than me, prettier than me, more athletic than me. I must admit for the longest time I hated you in every way possible and I have released so much anger and tears on your behalf, but without you, I wouldn’t have challenged myself in every way. I wouldn’t have worked so hard to get better at everything I did if I did not have you to prove wrong. Thank you for being that extra push I needed to work harder.

To my supporters,

You are the reason why I wake up every morning hopeful. No matter what life has thrown at me, you were always there to keep me going even when I was down in the dumps. You helped brighten even the darkest of times when it felt like nothing could go right. Thank you for believing that I would survive that really hard exam and pass with flying colors. Thank you for doing something as simple as tell me I did a good job while doing something I'm passionate about. I owe you the world for helping me stop doubting my abilities and working towards always being a better person.

To the famous feminists,

Thank you for teaching me to be confident and letting me know that it is okay for me to love every aspect of myself. Thank you for also teaching me that there's nothing wrong with being a girl. For a long time, I always believed that my life would be easier and better if I was a boy, but you taught me that being a female is great. Thank you for teaching me that women can do anything that men can. Thank you for inspiring me to have my sassy, confident moments. Thank you specifically to singers like Jennifer Lopez, Fifth Harmony, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and many others for performing songs that encourage me to break traditional gender roles and show males that we are equals in every way. Thank you for showing me that being an independent woman should be something to strive for not fear due to the lack of a male presence telling me how much they love me.

To all of these different people I am ever so grateful! Thank you for helping me realize who I am and how to be happy with myself. I could not be the person I am today without all of you combined.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
