Dear Mom and Dad,

Thank you for giving me the best life I could have ever imagined. You both took me in and loved me as if I was your own. I can never thank you enough for all that you have done for me. I can only imagine how hard it must have been to take a child who is not your own and treat them as if they are. Every single day, I felt so loved by both of you. You both taught me right from wrong. I know that I have made some mistakes growing up, but you both let me make mistakes so that I could learn from them. You two were always my biggest fans. You supported me threw ballet, soccer, plays and talent shows. You two were always in the front row cheering me on. Because of you two, I never had to go without. I always had what I needed plus some. You two taught me that education is everything and so I need to find something that I am passionate about and make a career out of it.

Because of everything that you have taught me, I am now 21 years old and I am in my third year of college. I know that Daddy is gone now, but I know that he would be proud. I love you both more than words could ever describe. I know that I probably haven't been the easiest child, but you still loved me anyway. Even when I would make you mad, you never regretted adopting me. I still feel as loved as when I was little. I can't thank you both enough for supporting me as much as you have. I know that I still have a lot to learn, but I know that you will be there for me when I need you. You both are my life and I could not imagine my life without you. I'm sorry for all the things that I have done wrong, but I just want you to know that I'm glad that you two decided to adopt me. I couldn't ask for better parents and I love you both so much.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
