A Thank You Letter To The Best Parents In The World

I want to start off saying, I love you guys more than anything in the world. You are my biggest supporters, my best friends, and my rocks. There are not enough thank you's in the world to show how grateful I am to have you two as my parents, but hopefully this gives you an idea.

Thank you for giving me the best siblings in the world

You may have just read that sentence and been incredibly confused, but I really do mean it! I know that I constantly fight with them, and they get on my nerves pretty much every second of the day but isn't that what having brothers and sisters is all about? I'm glad I have people that will always have my back, make me laugh when I want to cry, annoy the shit out of me, and pick me up when I'm feeling down. So thank you.

Thank you for attending every sporting event of my life

Thank you for being my biggest cheerleaders. For sitting at a cheer competition ALL day just to see a 2:30 performance. For going to every one of my soccer games, even though I sat the bench. For sitting at track meets for hours because I ran the very first and very last event. For driving all of us from one sport to the next and never complaining. For packing killer snacks before games and practices (those were the best)! For teaching me not to be a quitter, and that once I start something I have to finish it. For teaching me to be a team player, no matter how much it can suck sometimes. For going to every practice, every game, thank you.

Thank you for packing my lunch every day of my academic life

I never realized how much I'd miss you guys making my lunch until I got to college and had to make my own. My friends at lunch used to joke that I had a never ending lunch box because I always just kept pulling out food. Each food group was counted for. My nickname was Hostess, because you know I was all about those Hostess desserts. You always made sure to pack enough so that I had snacks left over for practice. Thank you.

Thank you for always being a shoulder to cry on

I remember when I found out I got deferred from Florida State. I don't think I've ever been sadder in my entire life (well maybe when we lost in final four my junior year). You both were right there to hug me and let me bawl my eyes out for a good couple of days (weeks). Whether it be over sports, friends, or life just not going the way I want, you are always there to hear me cry it out. Thank you.

Thank you for showing me what unconditional love looks like

I hope that one day I meet someone who loves me as much as you two love each other. Together for 25+ years, and still going strong. I'll never forget when mom told me about a card dad wrote for her. He was reading "A Walk To Remember" by Nicholas Sparks and the bible verse "Love is patient, love is kind" is in it. My dad saw that verse, and thought of my mom, so he wrote it down in a card for her. (They're literally the cutest) Thank you for showing me what true love is. For teaching me that life can be hard, but you can get through it together.

Thank you for your endless pep talks and motivational speeches

I don't know about any of you, but I call my parents multiple times a week (usually crying) to rant or complain about something that's going on in my life. I barely get through the first sentence before my mom starts on her motivational philosophies. "If what you're doing isn't working, what can you do to change it?" or "What can you control? You can control the way you react to something" are two classics. I know I make fun of them, and tell you to stop when you start asking me these questions, but I'm so thankful for them. I know I complain a lot, but you guys have always taught me to try and look at the glass half full. I know that when something isn't going right, I can call you up and you will give me the best advice. Thank you.

Thank you for instilling a sense of faith in me

I realize we aren't the most religious people on the planet, but you guys planted the seed and for that I am thankful. I remember when I was younger I used to pretend to sleep in really late so that maybe just maybe you wouldn't come wake me up for church (it usually never worked). You guys sacrificed so much to be able to send us to Catholic school and I'm so grateful because it has truly made me the person I am today. Thank you.

Thank you for always accepting and loving me for the person I am

I fully admit that I am an annoying person. I can be mean, and way too sassy for my own good. I complain. I rant. I'm extremely opinionated. But you love me anyway. Thank you for putting up with all aspects of my personality, good and bad, and accepting me with all my flaws and quirks.

Thank you for being my heroes

You are two of the best people I know. You will drop everything for someone that needs help, and always go out of your way to lend a helping hand. You inspire me every single day to be a better person. To be more like you guys. Thank you for being the incredible people that you are.

I know I don't say it nearly as often as I should, but THANK YOU. You guys are the best parents a child could ever have, and I thank God every single day for blessing me with you guys. I love you.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
