A Thank You Letter To My Pledge Sisters

The sisters I've never had, the best friends that I never knew I needed.

A Thank You Letter To My Pledge Sisters

Dear crazy, beautiful, awesome pledge sisters,

We came to all meet at a time where none of us really knew each other or even ourselves. From the time that we were first introduced to each other as a pledge class, I knew that it was going to be a wild ride. Pledging itself was a time that we all became closer than any of group of girls really should and began to learn every single amazing and annoying thing about each other. Those first few weeks prepared us for a life full of a friendship and sisterhood. We’ve seen each other at our worst, and we still manage to love each other through it all, which is the greatest gift of all.

Through every breakup, annoying drunk fight, and every girl who has pissed us off, we have each other’s backs. I know I can come to any of you with any stupid little rant, and you’ll listen even when I’m being over dramatic. It’s slightly disgusting how unified we are, especially when we shun someone’s ex as a group, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Even though we aren’t all together anymore, you will all always have a place in my heart. You girls are the sisters I never had and the best friends that I never knew I needed. You are my people. No matter how annoying we are, especially when we insist on trying to all fit on the stage at the bar when our song comes on, I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. I’ve seen you all grow into the people you are today, and you’ve shaped me into the person I’ve become. I’m glad we have our embarrassing past selves to laugh at together, and I’m glad that we aren’t afraid to make any more embarrassing memories.

We've done college so right, even when we've been so wrong. So here’s to more nights of raising hell at frat houses, here’s to the drunk group pictures we’ll take, and the times we’ll all stay up too late reminiscing about when we first became pledge sisters. Although we’re getting older, and we’re running out of time where these behaviors are acceptable, I know that you will all be in my life for a very long time.

So here is my thank-you. Thank you for always being down to get pizza with me after the bars. Thank you for reminding me I can’t wear boots with a skater skirt. Thank you for drinking cheap champagne with me and dancing around our sorority house. Thank you for the honest advice that I always needed. Thank you for making me laugh until I cry. But most importantly, thank you for loving me and being my support system. Always remember, we’ve got the world and nothing can stop us.

So much love,

Your Pledge Sister

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. So, if you are aware that you’re a Starbucks addict as well, or maybe you need to check to see if you’re an addict, here are seven ways to tell.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
