Dear mom,

I know me being away at college isn’t easy for you, trust me, its not always easy for me either, but thank you for giving my the chance to even be here. Not all daughters are lucky enough to have a mom who is also their best friend. So here’s to you, and everything you’ve done and continue to do for me. Thank you.

Thank you for always putting me first.

Even with your super busy schedule at home and work, you still somehow manage to make sure i'm your number one priority. Even when you want to pull my hair out, I know I always can count of you to focus on my needs before your own. If that meant buying me those new pair of shoes that I just had to have instead of buying yourself something new, or giving up an hour of your day to help with an assignment I just really couldn’t figure out, you were always willing to make the sacrifice for me. You are one of the most selfless people I have ever met and I will forever owe you a million thank you’s and I love you’s.

Thank you for all of the care packages.

Regardless if it's something big or you just sending me something I forgot at home, thank you. The note you always leave inside of them never fails to make me smile and miss you even more.

Thank you for always answering my calls.

Whether I am walking home from class and want to chat or having a bad day, you always pick up my call. Thank you for our daily Facetime dates while you cook dinner and I get jealous because i'm not there to eat your food or just you pointing the camera at the dogs so I can talk to them. Thank you for always listening to me and letting me rant for as long as I want.

Thank you for always supporting me.

You know college hasn't been the easiest for me so far. But with that, you've never failed to keep me motivated and encourage me to keep going when all I want to do is give up. I cannot thank you enough for that.

Thank you for helping me get the stains out of my clothes.

One big annoying thing about going off to college is you don't have your mom there to help you with your laundry. I know you're still confused on how I manage to stain every piece of clothing I own but yet you never fail teaching me step by step on how to get the stain out.

Thank you for raising me into the girl that I am today.

You've made me strong. You've made me brave. You've taught me to never take crap from anyone. You've taught me to tell it how it is (even if it gets me in trouble sometimes). You've taught me how to have a big heart. You've taught me to be the best me that I can be and I cant thank you enough for helping me become the girl that I am today.

But most of all,

Thank you for being the best.

I know we argue a lot. I know we tend to get on each other’s nerves but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for the constant support, thank you for all the advice throughout the years, thank you for everything you do for me while I’m away. I know it must not be easy for you at times but just know I love you and appreciate you more then you can understand and I just want to make you proud.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
