A Thank You Letter To My Parents
Kelsey Buese

Dear Mom & Dad,

Now that I have entered the adult world, there are a lot of things you both taught me and continue to teach me that have helped me not only succeed but have also guided me through my mistakes. Growing up, you taught me that learning from my experiences and always choosing happiness would get me far. Little did I know at the time, you were right. Doing things on my own and being pushed to work towards my fullest potention has shaped me into the person I am today. You stick with me at my worst and love me at my best, and for that- I am forever grateful.

If I don't say it enough, thank you for...

Always believing in me

Letting me make my own mistakes

For being selfless

Helping me balance all aspects of my life

For listening to me cry

Making me laugh when I am down

Making me feel safe

For thinking I am awesome, even when I feel really down

Putting up with my teenage angst

For supporting my dreams, no matter what they are at that time

Putting me and your other children first

For telling me it will all be okay

For teaching me it is okay to ask for help when I need it

Giving me a life where I have so many opportunites

Setting high expectations that you knew I could reach

Loving me and teaching me how to love

I am lucky enough to look back on my childhood with positivity & nostalgia and will never be able to thank you both enough for what you did and still continue to do for me. You amaze me.

Love,

Your little girl

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
