A Thank You Letter To My Grandmothers
Caitlyn Hallman

To my Grandmothers,

Thank you for being you, there aren’t enough words to describe how much our relationship means to me.

Thank you for loving me unconditionally since the moment I arrived in the world, and thank you for showing my parents the ropes after I was born.

Thank you for letting me stay with you and Pappy whenever I needed to growing up.

Thank you for picking up my phone calls everyday, and asking me a million questions, even though it’s hard to keep up with everything.

Thank you for not letting the long distance stand in between your dedication to seeing my basketball games and ballet recitals growing up.

Thank you for letting me visit your house every summer; going there was a highlight every year.

Thank you for always stocking your house with all of my favorite foods and drinks when you know I’m going to visit.

Thank you for sending me endless cards and care packages filled to the brim with homemade cookies throughout college.

Thank you for always making me feel so loved when I’m around you.

Thank you for holding me when I was hurt, taking care of me when I have been sick, and listening to me while I cry. And thank you for never telling me any of it was ridiculous.

Thank you for understanding my struggle with anxiety and depression, and helping me through my toughest times. You were the first person that believed in me, and still to this day are one of the only people I feel comfortable enough to tell everything to.

Thank you for not judging me when I eat too many bowls of ice cream, or devour Texas sheet cake. Also thank you for being my partner in eating all of those things!

Thank you for being the most selfless person I have ever met. You have the biggest heart, and will do whatever it takes to see someone succeed or be happy.

Thank you for stirring the pot to “make things interesting.” And thank you for being honest that you do it.

Thank you for listening to my mistakes and just saying, “Oh my,” instead of, “You shouldn’t be doing that,” like I’m sure you have wanted to many times.

Thank you for loving me during my horrible teenage years, I’m not sure how anyone handled me then.

Thank you for keeping all of my secrets, laughing at my not so funny jokes, and listening to me complain about a hard professor.

Thank you for motivating me to put my all in everything I do, and believing in me when I could not.

Thank you for always being patient, kind, and thoughtful.

Thank you for showing me how to treat others with respect, even when they treat you badly.

Thank you for being one of the strongest women I know.

You are one of the most incredible people that I know, and I will always be your “little girl,” there are not enough ways to say “thank you” and “I love you” to explain how much our bond means to me.

Xoxo,

Your Granddaughter

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
