A Thank You Letter to My Fiance

A Thank You Letter to My Fiance
Brittney Wedlock

Dear Fiance’,

The past couple years have gone by in the blink of an eye, yet are filled with dozens of milestones our relationship has reached and I cannot wait for millions more. As we prepare for our wedding, I am constantly reminded how blessed I am to have you as my future husband. Being that you constantly care for me and aim to keep me happy, sometimes I begin to take it all for granted, which is why I want to say thank you.

Thank you for being my rock. From keeping me motivated in school to comforting me when my anxiety gets the best of me. I can’t count the amount of times you worked a 13 hour shift and still stayed up late to calm me down when I couldn’t even explain why I was upset in the first place. Not only do you help me out of my anxiety, but you allow God to help me. You always tell me to pray about anything that is bothering me and you’re always so quick to pray for me, not to mention that your hugs can basically heal any wound. Thank you for always listening to me and for being there to catch me when I fall.

Thank you for spoiling me. It is way more than material things. Random flower deliveries and small surprise gifts are exciting and don’t get me wrong, every girl LOVES them. But there’s quite a few more ways you spoil me that I am so thankful for. You never fail to make me feel beautiful, even in my worst states. You constantly profess your love for me and all the reasons behind it. When we argue over something dumb, you always start cracking corny jokes to try and end the disagreement to make me smile again. Our dates never have to be some extravagant ordeal. Walks in the park, dinner and a movie, or just a Sonic drive-thru date are just some of our favorites and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

Thank you for being my best friend. You can read every facial expression of mine without me saying a word. You constantly remind me to put my best foot forward and are always cheering me on. You are the first person I always want to be a part of my plans. You are the first person I think of when I have news to share. I can constantly count on you to be there for me, not just in easy times, but especially during the rough times. Our inside jokes, phone calls about nothing- yet everything, and our jam filled car rides are nothing short of special.

I can’t help but smile when I think about the fact that I get to spend the rest of my life loving you. For the rest of our lives we will be partners-in-crime, a team, best friends, lovers. I have absolutely no doubt that we will make it through everything with you by my side.

With all my heart,

Your Fiancée

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
