A Thank You Letter to my Editor-in-Chief at Odyssey
Max Cordery

Dear Editor,

When you first recruited me to our Odyssey community, I had no idea what to expect. I knew that I loved to write and that I could write well, but writing for an online group where anyone could read it was a little daunting. I honestly didn’t think that I had what it would take. But, despite all of that you believed in me from the very beginning.

Ever since that first week, you’ve helped me become the best writer I can be, and I’ve come to realize how hard your job really is. Not only do you manage and edit our entire team, but you also create your own content. The fact that you can balance both is insane in its own right. You also promote our articles, hold meetings, and actively give us tips to reach a wider audience and improve our writing. And on top of it all, you have your own life to juggle. And what’s even more impressive is that you never ask for anything in return, even when we tend to make your life difficult.

You’ve never once complained when we don’t submit on time, or when we don’t show up to our meetings, even though those are our only real responsibilities. When our articles are a mess and totally incoherent because they were rushed, you don’t turn them down; you buckle down and edit them, working with us until they’re amazing. You spend your free time making us look good, while we take for granted all of the work you do.

I think it’s time that you get the recognition you deserve for all your hard work. You’ve taken a group of people and made a family, one that creates and supports each other. You put up with all of our attitudes and sass, and have never spoken out about it even though it’s obviously not something that anyone wants to deal with. And most importantly, you’ve introduced me to a whole new world and have given me the confidence I needed to really believe that I could do this. I’m improving every day, and I’ve found a passion for my work with Odyssey. And a large part of that is because of you.

From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of our whole community, thank you so much. We couldn’t have made it this far without you.

Sincerely,

A Grateful Creator

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.

RBF
Pop Trigger / YouTube

I'll admit it, I have a condition called RBF or, if you will, Resting Bitch Face.

Anna Kendrick, poor Kristen Stewart, the Queen of England are all life-long sufferers of RBF. Victoria Beckham even made a career out of it! And though it's usually used to describe women, some men are also afflicted. Kanye West is the best example of this.

April Ludgate
NBC Universal

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.
