A Thank You Letter to My Childhood Best Friend

"Friends forever, never apart. Maybe in distance, but never at heart."

A Thank You Letter to My Childhood Best Friend

Me: "WOAH, how old are you?"

Future best friend: "Um, five.

Me: "WHAT! YOU LOOK LIKE YOU SHOULD BE SIXTEEN!"

This peculiar conversation introduced me to the best friend I've ever know.

To My Forever Best Friend,

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on, my person to rant to, my second family, my number one supporter and my "sista from anotha mista".

Thank you for watching countless soccer games and even playing a few seasons, even though soccer was definitely not your thing. (LOL)

Thank you for opening up your home and family to me for the past fourteen years. Celebrating the holidays, birthdays and summer breaks with your family felt just like being with my own.

Thank you for listening to my countless rants about work, school, my family, boys and pretty much anything else that irritated me. You've literally listened to anything that bothered me for the last decade and a half (almost) and for that you deserve a trophy.

Thank you for never letting distance interfere with our friendship. Maintaining a friendship with someone that lives 300+ miles away BEFORE you had a cell phone was nearly impossible. But we managed to do it and we're still going strong at 1,817 miles. I guess it's true when they say that "distance means so little when someone means so much".

Thank you for accepting me for who I am. True friendship is not making fun of my picky eating, my lack of rhythm or my love for Rascal Flatts. True friendship is falling asleep on the couch watching throwback Disney movies, staying up till 3 in the morning making videos while talking in British accents, addressing each other with the "gangster" names from the online generator and going to the mall just to get Starbucks and have a photo shoot.

But most importantly, thank you for being you. Thank you for being my support system, personal therapist, motivator, best friend, sister and "Fly-Ass Crab Wacka" all wrapped up in one person. Friends like you are one in a million, but sisters like you are once in a lifetime.

Love always,

Your Best Childhood Friend

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

Being a music major is not all kicks and giggles. In fact, there are days when I question my sanity and doubt myself as a musician. I know I am not the only one going through the struggle, and so here are 13 GIFs that I know my fellow music majors can relate to...
