A Thank You Letter To My Brothers
Samantha Wargo

It may not seem like it the majority of the time, but I can truly say from the bottom of my heart that I am so grateful to be able to call you two my brothers and more importantly my best friends. We have been best friends since the beginning and for as long as I can remember. There is nothing I would change about the relationship that we have created over the years. There are so many things that I want to thank you for, and what's better than writing it out for you to read over and over again?

Thank you for always having my back.

No matter what the situation is, no matter how wrong or right I am, I'll always know that you two will be there to bail me out or catch me when I fall or think I have fallen. Thank you for telling me the truth about everything even when you know I'm not going to like what your opinion is or what you're going to say.

Thank you for always protecting me.

Whether you guys are protecting me from a boy you don't like or simply from all the crazy people in the world, I couldn't be more grateful to know that you will always be there to guard me and keep me safe, and be by my side whenever I need you.

Thank you for all my childhood memories.

We have made so many memories throughout our lives, and there will be many more to make in the future. From our many sports tournaments, vacations and to all the days we just sat around doing nothing, years from now we are going to have so many funny stories to tell our kids.

Thank you for making me strong.

From day one, the two of you would wrestle me and push me around like I was one of the guys, and even though at the time I did not like it at all, I can now say that it has only helped to make me who I am today. Thanks to the two of you, I am the strong independent girl that I am today. You have taught me how to not punch like a girl and how to have my own back in any situation.

Thank you for always being down to eat with me.

I know I can always count on both of you to make milkshakes or even take a drive to McDonald's in the middle of the night. Even if you have just eaten, I know you will always have room for something else to eat.

Thank you for all the simple things.

Thank you for answering my texts, calls and FaceTimes in the middle of the night even though we are usually all in different states the majority of the time. Thank you for the motivating texts that push me to do my best or to do better when I tell you my latest accomplishments or failures. Thank you for being there for me even if we go days without talking or even sending a Snapchat. And thank you for always being able to make me laugh (whether you are making fun of me or we are making fun of mom and dad).

Most of all thank you for being my best friends.

Even though we aren't together as much anymore, I can truly say that you both are my best friends and have been since day one. No matter how far away we may be or how far away we will soon become, we will always be the three best friends that anyone could ever have.

At the end of the day, as much as I imagine myself having a sister at times and all the cute outfits we could have shared, I wouldn't trade either of you or your big baggy clothes for the world. We have been to the moon and back with and for each other, and that will never change.

Love,

Your Favorite Sister

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
