Thank You Letter To My Big Brother

Thank You Letter To My Big Brother

Growing up with a big brother is truly a blessing. You experience having someone you constantly fight with and someone you can turn to for anything. You grow up with someone that will constantly tease you because they don’t have anything better to do. But most importantly, you will have someone that will love you no matter what. Even though I don’t show it, I want to express how thankful I am to have a big brother like you.

Dear Big Brother,

You have no idea how much you mean to me. You will always have a place in my heart that can’t be replaced by anyone else. Words can’t describe the amount of love I have for you. As I am away at college I’ve realized how much you mean to me and how I have never thanked you for everything you’ve done for me.

Thank you for teaching me how to be tough.

Mentally, emotionally and physically.

Thank you for always sticking by my side.

You always have my back no matter how much I screw up. I know you will always be there to protect me and get me through tough times.

Thank you for being my rock.

When mom and dad got divorced you were there for me and always took care of me. You taught me how to be a brave little girl during that time. You told me everything will be okay, and I knew it would be because I had you there to guide me.

Thank you for showing me "tough love."

Thank you for telling me I look ugly just to piss me off even though I knew you are kidding. Thank you for letting me win when we would beat each other up growing up. You taught me how to put up a fight and not to take sh*t from anyone including yourself. (even though I know I can still kick your butt to this day, even if you won’t admit it).

Thank you for the “brother to sister” talks.

Thank you for all the advice you have given me and for always telling me how it is, even if it’s not what I want to hear. You were there for me when my heart was broken; you said everything would be okay, and that no guy is worth crying over. Thank you for listening to me and being an amazing support system.

Thank you for making me a better person.

You have always encouraged me to be a better person and to always believe in myself. Thank you for the lessons you’ve taught me, even if it took me a while to learn them myself. You’ve never give up on me and have always told me everything is possible if I set my mind to it.

Thank you for being my chauffeur.

Thank you for driving me to practice or the mall when Mom and Dad couldn’t. Thank you for the countless trips back to school when you had to give up your hunting/fishing trips, and even when you didn’t have a choice.

Thank you for always loving me and being there for me.

You have been there for me since the day Mom and Dad brought me home. Through the jokes, the fighting, the teasing, the hardships and the laughs, you have always been there. You love me unconditionally and will always be my first best friend.

Thank you for being you.

Without you I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Not only have you helped me grow as a person, you have also inspired me to grow up wanting to be just like you. Thank you for being an amazing role model.

Through countless memories, laughs, and arguments, you have always been there for me. I’m incredibly blessed to have a brother like you, and couldn’t imagine growing up with anyone else. From saying “I hate you” growing up to “I miss you” while I’m at college to “Thank You” right now, I wouldn’t be who I am without you. Thank you for being the best big brother a girl could ask for. Love you more than you know.

Love,

Your Little Sister

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
