To my best friend's parents,

Oh boy, I love you guys. You are both so important to me even though you may not be related to me... at all. You have truly been here for me and given me the advice that was needed at the time. Overall, I just want to thank you for taking care of me and treating me like your own child (since sometimes I acted like it).

Thank you for greeting me energetically every time I walk into your home. I know I don't ever knock... and sometimes I come over before anyone gets home. But thank you for always being happy to see me because I am ALWAYS happy to see you guys.

Thank you for asking about my life. It may not seem normal to others, but our full conversations that we have before I even see your kid really mean a lot to me. You care about how I am doing and you like to keep up-to-date on what is going on in my life. I appreciate you asking about the little things and the big things in life. You also always ask about my family which means the world to me because you also care how they are doing.

Thank you for always offering me food when I come over. It is generally offered within the first minute of me being here and I truly appreciate that (especially since you are both such great cooks- that's a major plus). The number of times I have sat down and had a meal with you is uncountable and I love that about us.

Thank you for always offering me a place to stay. It could be late at night, early in the morning, or anytime in between and you always offer to let me stay over. I know you don't have to because it could be a burden to have people stay the night, but out of the goodness of your hearts, you offer every single time. When I stay over, I am always greeted warmly in the morning and treated with love and that's the best part.

Thank you for treating me like your own children. You love me, care about me, and overall watch over me. You don't let me get away with mischief or not listening and I completely respect that. You make sure I know the rules of the house and always treat me like family. You love me as if I was your own child and I love you like my own parents.

And last, but surely not least... Thank you for always being there for me. I know I can be a lot to handle, but I know I can go to you guys with any problem I may have. Thank you for listening to me and being concerned with what I tell you. Sometimes I truly need parental advice and you make sure to give me that.

So to my best friend's parents (you know who you are)... Thank you for loving me. Thank you for caring about me. Thank you for feeding me. Thank you for letting me stay over. Thank you for treating me like family. Thank you for being my rock. And thank you for raising my best friend, you did an amazing job. I love you with all of my heart and I'll see you soon for sure.

Love always,

Your kid's best friend

P.S.- What's for dinner tonight?

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
