A Thank You Letter To Florida State

Dear Florida State,

With graduation right around the corner, I can't help but sit here and think about how grateful I am that I had the opportunity to attend the greatest school in the nation. You have completely changed my life and I can not thank you enough for that.

I remember stepping on to this campus as a scared little freshman with no idea on what to expect. People always stressed to me that these were going to be the best four years of my life, but I never truly understood what they meant until now. Thank you for giving me a home away from home.

Thank you for showing me the true meaning of what it takes to be a Florida State Seminole. Thank you for giving me the best sports teams in the nation, and for giving me the opportunity to witness a National Championship. Thank you for giving me more school spirit than I even know what to do with. I will never forget the sense of pride I felt when the war chant came blaring on the speakers every time I was out.

You have given me some of my most fondest memories that I will cherish forever. Thank you for giving me not only my best friends, but friends that turned into family. I will never forget all the memories that we shared here, like always having a group of degenerates to go out with 4 to 5 times a week. Or a group of people that shared the same love for pizza and McDonalds as me. Thank you for giving me a group of friends that I could count on even my darkest days.

Even though I might be graduating and would do anything to stay for one last victory lap, I am confident enough to enter the real world knowing I learned most of what I know from Florida State. You have challenged me beyond belief and made me into the person that I am today. Through all the ups and downs, I would never change a thing. Thank you for making me a better student. Thank you for making me a better friend. Thank you for making me a better alcohol handler. And finally, thank you for preparing me for the dreaded adulthood.

I look forward to coming back to Florida State as an alumni and I thank you for giving me a place to be every other Saturday during football season. I can't wait to have a family and force them to love Florida State as much as I do. And if for some reason the future doesn't lead my children to Florida State, I hope it leads them somewhere just as amazing. (Even though that might be hard.) I will forever be grateful for this University, and even though I might be leaving this isn't good bye.

Thank you Florida State University, I love you.

Sincerely,

A Graduating Senior

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
