A Thank You Letter To My Mom And Dad
Cassidy Gilmore

Dear Mom and Dad,

Thank you. I know I don’t say it enough but know when I do I mean it and even when I don’t say it I am thankful. I'm thankful for everything you do for me every day. You always put me first before you or anything else, you don’t know how much I appreciate that. Sometimes you have to let me sacrifice some things too, but you never let me. Thank you for always allowing me to be a kid and not grow up too fast, even though I did. You don’t understand what a blessing it is to have parents like you.

Parents that are always there to support me through everything. Thank you for always coming to my basketball games, gymnastics meets, soccer games and track meets. Even if I sat on the bench or didn’t do as well as I had hoped. You guys were always my biggest fans. All I wanted to was make you proud of me, even though I make you proud every day. Thank you for instilling in me that I could always do or be anything that I want as long as I put my mind to it. For always filling our house with fun, laughter, and sarcasm. For teaching me right from wrong and for teaching me everything I needed to know to take on the world on my own.

Thank you for the constant support in everything I do and for being there when I need you the most. Whether it be me changing my major, playing a sport or failing a test. You're always there to tell me it will be okay and everything will work itself out. No matter what happens in our lives I know ill always have you in my corner and you will always be there to provide for me. I know you work hard to put me through school and for me to be happy. I cant tell you how much it means to me that you will do almost anything to help me live my dreams. Not many parents would do as much as you do for me.

Going away to college gave me independence and taught me to live on my own. However, you were always a phone call away whenever I needed you, which is all the time. Thank you for always being the people I can go to when I'm upset. When I'm homesick or just want to go home, thank you for dropping everything to come and get me at school. Thank you for treating my friends as your own. I love hearing my friends talk about you and say how much they love my parents. Although, they couldn’t love you as much as I love you.

Thank you for always putting me first. For making sure I had everything I needed. For buying me things or taking me places even though we didn’t have the money to do so. You would always do everything in your power to make sure I was happy and I am so thankful for that. Thank you for always knowing how to cheer me up or make me smile or laugh. For being the ones I can tell anything to. You are the strongest and most inspirational people I know.

There is simply not enough words or 'thank you's to tell you how much I love and appreciate you and everything you do for me. I know we have been through a lot as a family, but I know that as long as we have each other we will be okay. Everything works out the way it should work out. All I know is that I have the most amazing parents a girl could ask for and no matter how old I get ill always be your little girl. Thank you for everything, without you I wouldn’t be where I am today. Without your constant love, support and help. For being my best friends. For being the ones I can call or text at anytime of the day. For providing me with an amazing life, I am truly blessed to have you in my life and I don't know what I did to deserve such an honor. So this is a letter dedicated to you, mom and dad, for being the only two people in the world that I can consistently rely on and to love me unconditionally. I love you to the sky and back!

Always and Forever,

Your Sunshine

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
