A Thank You Letter To My High School Best Friend At A Different College
Tori Kegley

Dear best friend,

First off, I want to thank you for all you’ve done for me over the years we’ve been friends. From being my shoulder to cry on when things are bad, to laughing uncontrollably at the dumbest things; thank you for being there for me through it all. I probably wouldn’t have survived high school without you and having you there for me through everything that has happened thus far in college makes it all a little more bearable.

Thank you for only being a phone call away. Even if it’s 10 o’clock at night you’re right there on the phone, laughing and crying with me. We may be miles away from each other right now, but you’re still always there to support me no matter what.

Thank you for listening to me complain about the most absurd things. Most of the time you have no clue who or what I’m talking about. But, when I do call you at 10 o’clock at night, it’s usually over something silly. Thank you for giving up your sleep or for interrupting your workout or lunch to listen to me gossip and rant to you about whatever is going on in my life.

Thank you for making time for me. I know you have other friends and a SO who go to different colleges as well. Thank you for still making plans with me on the weekends when we’re both home and making sure we get to see each other every chance we get, even if we just go grab a quick bite to eat.

Thank you for coming to my college campus to see me when I can’t get away or come home. I’ve made so many new friends here, but sometimes it’s just nice to relax and hang out with a familiar face. Thank you for letting me show you around my new home (and for helping me spend all the leftover money on my meal plan 😉)

No matter how many miles away we are, we’ll always be best friends. You do so much to support me and keep me sane. I know we don’t see each other as often as we used to and we don’t talk everyday but that’s okay. It makes the little time that we do get to spend together that much better! Here’s to all the memories we share and all the ones we have yet to make!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
