A Thank You Letter To The One That Made Me An Auntie
Jenny Cappetta

When I was 18, I became an Auntie for the first time because of you. I never thought one person could ever change me as much as you have. And I should thank you.

So to the little girl who inspires my heart,

Thank you for teaching me so much.

You taught me that tutus are perfectly OK to wear to the grocery store, as long as they're accompanied by a "Hug-Me-Elmo" and a "pop." Thank you for teaching me that play dough looks beautiful in Elsa's hair. Thank you for teaching me that it's OK to mess up sometimes, because even though I've made huge mistakes, you have never looked at me any differently. Thank you for doing my hair for me. For making sure that I'm all ready for the ball.

Thank you for teaching me how to take a step back from everything, for teaching me that everything eventually works out, and not to stress about the mess in between the moment something goes wrong and the moment it gets better. There isn't enough time in the day.

Thank you for being you, the little person who doesn't care about what others think. You simply smile and go on with your day. Thank you for begging me to come over and play-because most the days you do I need a pick me up. Thank you for being my nugget.

Thank you for inspiring me everyday to simply be me, and whoever doesn't approve doesn't matter. Just smile, pick up your tutu, your "Hug-Me-Elmo," a pop, and move on. I know someday you're going to go so far with your charisma, and your infectious smile. You will always be my favorite person to watch cartoons with. And always my favorite person to share an ice cream with at the pool — even though you use my towel to wipe your hands. I wouldn't change the chocolate covered beach towels for anything in the world.

I hope someday you explore the world someday. I hope someday you follow your heart through everything because it will lead you to beautiful places. I hope so much for you.

I'm the luckiest Titi in the world to have you. Thank you for being my best friend.

Your Titi,

Jenny

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
