For one of the best parts of my life.

Thank You Letter To My Dog, Steeler
Alexandrea Dedrick

Dear Steeler,

You are easily one of my best friends. I've had you since I was in elementary school and you have always been there for the good and bad times in my life and as you get older I find myself becoming nostalgic about all of our memories together and I never want you to feel like you are taken for granted by me because you absolutely never will be. So here is some thank yous that are long overdue

1) Thank you for taking care of me when I am sick. You always know when I am not feeling good and always manage to crawl into my bed with me and though you do not talk, you presence alone makes me feel so much better

2) Thank you for making me exercise. Our daily play time outside in the yard is something that I look forward to everyday. The best part is when we are done and you cannot help but look happy

3) Thank you for going on drives with me. Anyone who knows me knows I hate driving, so when you hop in the passenger side seat it make me feel so happy and comfortable.

4) Thank for you laying with me when I am sleeping. Anytime that I sleep in and no one else is in the house you always come in to my room and sleep a little bit more with me and it means the world to me

5) Thank you for walking downstairs to my room with me every single night. I'm not sure if you want something or if you just want to be near me, but every time you do this I feel so safe and protected.

6) Thank you for reminding me about the best NFL team. Every single time I call your name or am talking about you I cannot help but think about the Pittsburgh Steelers and really what more could I ask for??

7) Thank you for licking my face every morning when I wake up. I look forward to that daily greeting and cannot imagine starting my day without it.

8) Thank you for relaxing with me when I am reading a good book, watching tv, or taking a nap. I love that you always seem to know when I just want some downtime and always being willing to join me.

9) Thank you for eating what I did not want to when I was younger. I never had to worry about eating my peas or cooked carrots because you were always there to take care of them for me.

10) Thank you for galloping like a horse whenever I let you outside. It provides an unlimited amount of entertainment and never fails to make me smile.

11) Thank you for comforting me when I am sad. Whether I was going through a heartbreak, a bad grade, or a fight with someone close to me you are the one constant in my world and it is the best feeling in the world to know I have you in my life.

Steeler, you are one of the best parts of my life and I would not trade you for anything because of the reasons I mentioned above and because right now you are sitting next to me while I write this essay. I cannot imagine not having you in my life and I am so grateful that you were at the humane society when we were.

Love, Alex

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
