A Thank You Letter To My Best Friends

Dear Friends,

Throughout your life you come into contact with many people. Some make little impact on your lives, while others make such a huge impact you often ask yourself why. These people are known as your best friends.

I am so thankful for the best friends that I have come across throughout my life. Even though life gets tough and even the best of friends grow apart, I am still thankful for all the times we spent together. To my old friends and my new friends, I just want you to know how thankful I am for you guys.

With graduation right around the corner and the emotional roller coaster of a semester comes to an end, I just want to say thank you to all the friends who have shaped my life and helped me grow into the person that I am today.

Thank you for the endless laughs. I might be biased, but I would say I have the funniest group of friends around. I don’t think there has ever been a dull moment when we’re all together. Even though some times our humor can get us into some interesting situations, I wouldn’t change it for a thing. Thank you for giving me a reason to laugh every second of the day and for laughing at my jokes, making me feel funnier than I really am. I don’t know what I would do without all of the insane group chats that go off at all hours of the day.

Thank you for accepting me for me. In college especially, you see many people change who they are in order to be accepted by a group of people. While this is sad, it happens all the time and they never truly get to experience an authentic friendship. I am so thankful that I have found a group of friends who accept me at my best and at my worst. I can embarrass myself and make questionable decisions, and they will never judge me no matter what.

Thank you for always being there for me. Whether it’s someone to go out with or someone to get pizza with after a bad day, thank you for always being down. Also, thank you for loving bloody mary’s as much as I do. If it weren’t for you guys, I would have never found my new obsession. Thank you for being there when I need a good rant. Some of my favorite moments together are the ones when we’re all sitting around in junky clothes talking about life’s ups and downs.

Thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone. Without you guys, there are so many things I would have never done. I am so thankful for all of our random weekend trips. I will forever cherish all of the memories we have made along the way. Thank you for the endless pictures. One of my favorite things to do is go through my camera roll and look at how far we have come over the past couple of years. It is crazy to see how much has changed from our outfits, to our hairstyles, to the people that are with us.

To all of my friends that I don’t get to see or talk to everyday, I am thankful for you. I know that no matter what you will always be there for me, and I would do anything for you. You guys helped shape me into the person I am today and I will never forget that. To all my friends that when life happened we grew apart and stopped talking, I am forever thankful for you guys as well. Even though we do not talk anymore I just want you to know that I will always be there for you no matter what.

So for all my best friends, out there I just wanted to give you a cheesy article on why you mean so much to me. I love you and I am so thankful that life has brought us together. Forever my soulmates.

Sincerely,

Emotional Friend

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
