Dear Senator Sanders,
First of all, please allow me to say thank you. Thank you for finally shedding light on very important issues that are impacting our daily lives. Thank you for finally being the one presidential candidate that is whole-heartedly set on what you believe in and not being swayed by big money corporations. Thank you for believing in a peaceful world. Most of all, thank you for making myself, along with millions of other Americans, feel the Bern.
Considering I am a young, 21-year-old college student most people will say that I am only voting for you because I am lazy and do not want to pay for my education, but this is not the case. I believe in free education through public colleges and universities, simply because it opens so many more opportunities for all those who cannot afford a higher education. You understand how the free education system works in other countries and I applaud the initiative that you’re taking in trying to start something for this country that has never been thought of before. Thank you for your support in education for all classes, regardless of income.
Someday I would like to have a family and a beautiful house to raise my children, but with all of these presidential candidates taking money from fossil fuel corporations and not caring about the environment, I am worried for our future. Luckily, you stepped up and said that you will increase funding to environmental agencies and cut U.S. carbon pollution by eighty-percent and also putting a tax on carbon pollution. I believe that the new clean, sustainable energy initiative will be great for this country. This will also create millions of jobs for Americans and we can work together to clean up our country. Thank you for wanting to create a better world for the next generation and many more to come.
As a woman, I also feel that abortion is an important topic of discussion and should not be overlooked. There are circumstances where it is simply not fitting for a woman to bear a child, such as rape and health complications. You understand that the government should not have a say in what a woman does with her body. Thank you for supporting women’s rights.
Another popular topic amongst the presidential candidates has been immigration. This country was founded by immigrants almost 400 years ago and you understand that we have no right to kick these people out of our beautiful country, when immigration was in fact our foundation. You believe in paving the path for those who want to become U.S. citizens, and I believe that this would be a great step towards building peaceful relationships with other countries. Thank you for welcoming people into our country no matter what nationality they may be.
Lastly Senator Sanders, I would like to thank you for fighting for the lower and middle class. The riches of our country are in the hands of the one-percent. Taxation on the higher class will help even out the balance between the three. You believe in a $15.00 minimum wage, which is accomplishable and is already being implemented in certain parts of our country. I am a college student and work two jobs, as well as side work, so by no means am I just a lazy American who simply wants to make more money doing one simple job. Thank you for believing in a balance in our economic system and for your belief on the taxation of the wealthy.
Thank you Bernie Sanders for believing in a bright future for our nation and I look forward to voting for you.
