College is a big time in everyone's life. It's a crazy experience of stress, fun, parties, clubs, and jobs. However, there are some very important people that help you get through all of those experiences and most likely they've shared in some of those experiences. This is a letter to some of the best friends that I have made here at Illinois State University and a thank you for all of the wonderful things that you have done for and with me. This will be a letter to a few individuals who have helped me in my first year and a half at college.
Dear Best Friends,
Thank you for everything that you have done, and trust me I know sometimes it has not been easy to deal with me. The first friend I made here was my roommate, Liz, and if it was not for her and my other best friend, I probably would not have lasted at college as long as I have. Many people are homebodies, but I am the type of person who lives in their home so being at college, my dorm became my safety blanket. A safety blanket that I never had to leave and for a while, I didn't because I was petrified of being made fun of or not being liked. Roommates can help in an amazing way. You went with me to Welcome Week and you also became my friend who was fine with my watching Moana like twenty times this past semester. When I started to have breakdowns more frequent than normal, you were willing to sit and help me however you could, and I am so thankful to be rooming with you.
To Hanna, the girl I met through an internship that I took a chance on last year, thank you. Thank you for always getting meals with me Watterson, even if you did not know that I would not have eaten out of anxiety if not. Thank you for listening to every stupid rant I have ever bothered you with, and some of them were really stupid. Thanks for knocking some sense and confidence into me when I would be freaking out anytime there might be a slight possibility of confrontation. Thanks for going with me to my first party, and for some funny memories as well. I also need thank you for helping to push me to go on my first date with my now boyfriend, you can rightly claim you were the one to give the shove that led to us being together. You're one of the best people I could have ever hoped to know, and I am so thankful that I met you through an internship last year, and I hope that I will never lose contact with such an amazing person.
To the girl from my Communications course, Lexi, thank you. You may not know it, but you helped me be more open and willing to take a chance and have a conversation with a stranger. Even though we may not be the best of friends, I am still thankful to you for even being friendly and having the once in a blue moon get together. So, thank you.
To the Odyssey group, thank you for encouraging me. You guys do not know it but every time we have a meeting I am extremely anxious about what everyone thinks of me. However, despite these fears, you guys are always welcoming and help to encourage whatever article I am currently working on, as well as opening me up to new ideas and points of views. So, thank you for helping whether you know it.
Finally, to the biggest contributor, my mom. Thank you for every time you took one of my phone calls, and for sending care packages. Thank you for the gift cards to Starbucks. Thank you for listening to me crying even though I do not talk to you as much as I should. Thank you for always coming down to help move me in, for Family Weekend, and even picking me up at a random weekend because I just wanted to come home. Thank you for always cooking my favorite meals when I do go home, trust me I really miss good home cooked burgers after being a school. Thanks for being one of my best friends as well as my mom.
I have so many people to thank for helping to make college easier every day. So, thank you to everyone who has ever made me smile or helped me without realizing it, like the subway guy who made me laugh. Thank you to the best friends I have come to know. Just thank you.
