For those of you who don't know who Katy Hearn is, let me tell you. Katy Hearn is one of the biggest fitness inspirations out there. I personally owe a lot to Katy, she not only inspires me and thousands of others, she can inspire you, too.

My junior year of high school, after an injury that kept me from returning to playing sports, I was lost. I wanted to find something new to invest my time and energy into. At the beginning of my senior year, I stumbled upon Katy's Instagram page. Katy is a personal trainer and hosts four big challenges each year and before I knew it, I was enrolled in her fall challenge. Not knowing what to expect I started my new fitness journey.

For the first week or so, I found myself stumbling around the gym at 24-Hour Fitness trying to work through her plan and stick to the workouts. However, by the end of her eight-week program I was in love with fitness and the fitness world. Growing up, I played almost every sport imaginable, but this was a different kind of fitness. Every day after that eight-week challenge with Katy, I was excited to get to the gym to lift. I've now completed two challenges with her and have nothing but praises to sing about her.

Katy isn't your typical fitness inspiration on Instagram though, she takes her time to interact with her followers on social media and she really invests with her clients. Her challenges have hundreds of girls who email her on a daily basis asking for help with their nutrition or have questions about their workouts. Responding to thousands of emails a week sounds like a lot, but every response I've gotten has been so positive and personal. Katy cares about every client she trains and wants us to be successful with whatever goals we may have.

In addition to being an amazing trainer and designing workouts that kick everyone's asses, Katy's challenges bring together a community of women who are all working towards living a healthier, more fit, lifestyle. With each challenge, there's a Facebook group created that brings all of the challenge girls together to support each other during the challenge. The community that Katy creates in the Facebook group is indescribable.

Katy and her fiancé, Haydn, run the challenges together and have helped thousands of girls start and continue their fitness journey, myself included. So, thank you Katy and thank you Haydn for helping me fall in love with fitness and change my lifestyle for the better.

In addition to training clients through her challenges, in just a few short weeks, Katy and Haydn will be opening their own gym. These two individuals are some of the kindest and most humble fitness inspirations you will ever interact with.

If you want to check Katy or Haydn out, they're on Twitter (@katyhearnfit) (@HaydnSchneider), Instagram (@katyhearnfit) (@katyhearngym) (@haydnschneider), and Katy's website (www.katyhearnfit.com). Be prepared to fall in love with their relationship, dogs, and make them your fitness goals.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
