Thank You For Your Inspiration, Messi

The greatest soccer player to ever live

Thank You For Your Inspiration, Messi

Growing up, I lived and breathed soccer. It's been my dependable friend since the age of four. While my parents may argue otherwise, I love to watch soccer. Of course, they initially had to sternly urge me to watch games on television, but that was before I watched Barcelona play. Their style of play was and still is mesmerizing to me. The crispness of their passes, their deft touch of the ball, the accuracy of each play -- I could go on and on. While I had never seen the game played so beautifully, there was something, or should I say someone in particular that really swayed me: Lionel Messi. I had never idolized someone before but I knew then that from that moment on, he would be my idol.

I found deep rooted inspiration watching Messi. Maybe I felt I could relate to him as a player due to our small statures, or maybe I had hoped to replicate his tenacity. Nevertheless, he became my idol. I continued to watch his games with my parents, but now it wasn't a struggle to sit through the games. I willingly watched with great vigor. After a couple of years of adoration, I promised myself that I would one day watch Messi play in real life. Even if that meant I had to travel the world to do so, I would find a way.

Nearly 10 years passed with no avail. To my surprise, I was presented with the opportunity to watch him play in the Copa America semi-final game this past Tuesday. Upon hearing the news, I couldn't contain my excitement. My heart began to race so quickly I feared that I would legitimately suffer a heart attack. There were several restless nights leading up to the game. The anticipation was unbearable. Then the magical day arrived: game day.

As I sat in the stands clad in red, white, and blue, I held an Argentina jersey in representational support for my idol. Even with my deep-seeded love for my country and hope that the U.S. team would prevail, my greatest hope was to witness the magical Messi. As expected, he did not disappoint, he surpassed any and all expectations I had. While I can't voice anything about Messi that hasn't already been said, seeing him live accentuates his capabilities and status as the best soccer player in the world. While some may argue otherwise, I undoubtedly believe that he is the best player to ever play the game.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
