When You Give A Girl An Older Brother

There's no doubt that having an older brother is one of the greatest gifts because of how caring, devoted, and protective they are of you (when they want to be). My mom always confesses to me how much my older brother loved me when I was born, and how excited he was to have a little sister. Yes, I had the constant teasing, but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

My brother, and I are separated by eight years which is just enough to not get on each others nerves while still being super close despite him moving away when I was only eleven. By having an older brother I will always have the support system that I need. Through high school especially my brother was a constant in helping me, and being their for me when I needed him.

When you give a girl an older brother you give her a lifelong best friend.

He will always be there for you, and never leave your side. He will always accept, and be happy when you have exciting news while supporting you through the bad times.

You give her immunity to a nasty smell

My brother played a lot of sports through high school, and always came home with the worst smell. Boys are just gross in general. He always thought it was funny to come up to me, and fart right in my face, but I still love him unconditionally.

You give her someone that will protect her

My brother always jokingly says that he will punch whoever breaks my heart, or when I was younger beat up the kids who teased me, but he would actually do it in a heartbeat. He wouldn't let anything happen to me to the best of his capabilities. It was like having a bodyguard that was just a phone call away.

I can tell you that my brother and I were not super close when I was younger, but as we've grown older I do consider him my best friend. I never realized till the last few years how important it is to have my brother in my life, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
